Zone Leader

Lead by Jen Rawlinson. Jen was born and bred in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. She moved to England in January 2005 with the plan to work and travel before returning home. Four years later and she's still in Maidstone! Jen is 28 and works as a Reception class teacher. She's passionate about giving young children a loving environment so they mature as whole people – something she treasures about her own childhood. Jen loves chocolate and tea, and plenty of the latter because "it solves all sorts of things". She's also a keen ballet dancer.

This zone encapsulates Kid's Church, Kid's Club and 24Seven. The main focus is to create a secure environment for young children to grow and develop in, where they are offered a platform to build friendships, social skills and have fun. It's a place where children learn key Christian and life principles through activities and serving the local community. The leaders work alongside parents to ensure an effective, family environment is upheld.

Kid's Church is held on Sunday mornings and is basically a mini church. Children in Reception to Year 6 pray together, worship together and have their main teaching and equipping time. Arts, crafts and games are thrown into the mix too.

Kid's Club is run from 5.30 to 7pm on Fridays at the Jubilee Community Centre. It is for children in Reception to Year 3 and involves all sorts of activities from art to cooking to sports.

24Seven is lead by Andrea. Called 24Seven because it encourages children to live out their faith practically in their everyday lives, this is a group for children in Year 4 – Year 6 which runs from 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Fridays. Again, the meeting is packed with activities, has a real community spirit as children are encouraged to take part in outreaches around Maidstone and also helps children develop their leadership skills.
